Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the progress on the development projects of Murree.
The Prime Minister was briefed about details and preparatory work undertaken on different projects in the light of decisions made in the meeting held at Murree on 3rd July 2015.
The Prime Minister approved the bulk water supply scheme to Murree from river Jhelum with the cost of Rs 7 billion. The bulk water supply will be made to Murree through a 30 km long pipeline and the project will be completed in 18 months after the award of contract.
The meeting was also briefed about the rain water harvesting system installed with the cooperation of private houses and its further extension.
The meeting approved the development and up gradation of the abandoned Brazilian Embassy building at Murree as a tourist attraction and this project will be completed in ten (10) months.
The meeting directed to invite bids from the private sector for the laser light show for the entertainment of the tourists during the peak tourist season.
The Prime Minister directed to undertake the cable car projects without disturbing the privacy of private houses and approved to start the feasibility work on the Bastal Mor to Pindi point option.
The Prime Minister also approved building of state of the art Hospital near the General Bus Stand in Murree and said that the hospital must be equipped with latest and best medical facilities.
The Prime Minister also directed to develop Samli sanatorium into a big medical centre and establishment of medical college at Samli sanatorium and asked for preparation of detailed proposal in this regard.
The meeting also deliberated on the opening of alternate route from Islamabad to Murree via Kotli Sattian onward to Patriata through a new expressway. The meeting considered preparation of comprehensive proposal with detailed work plan including a chair-lift from Kotli Sattian to Patriata.
The Prime Minister directed to speed up the restoration of GPO, maintaining its originality and serenity and making it a comfortable place for visiting public.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Minister for Petroleum Mr Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, Raja Ishfaq Sarwar provincial Minister Mr. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, MNA, Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials.
