Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and Norway have extended support to each other at various international forums and Pakistan looks forward to continued cooperation in various spheres.
He was talking to Mr. Borge Brende, Foreign Minister of Norway who called on him in the Norwegian capital here this evening.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Norway bilaterally as well as in the context of the Nordic region.
The Prime Minister extended condolences on the death of Norwegian Ambassador Leif H. Larsen in tragic helicopter crash in Naltar.
Mr. Borge Brende appreciated Prime Minister's commitment to education.
He said there are about 35,000 Pakistanis living in Norway contributing towards the prosperity of the country.
The Prime Minister said this diaspora establishes strong link between the two countries.
Matters related to regional situation also came under discussion.
Advisor to PM, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to PM, Mr. Tariq Fatemi and MOS for Education, Mr. Baligh ur Rahman were present in the meeting.
Later, the Prime Minister also attended a reception hosted by the Foreign Minister in honour of the visiting heads of delegations at Oslo City Hall which the Norwegian Prime Minister also attended.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon also present in the reception.
