PM Muhammad Nawaz Sharif discussed regional security issues with Afghan President Karzai

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have to work in close liaison to bring peace in the region, while meeting Afghan President Hamid Karzai at Murree today. Both leaders discussed security situation of the region. Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvaiz Kiyani, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Fatemi were also present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister said that Afghanistan is our close neighbor and brotherly country and we have common challenges and huge opportunities that lie before us. Prime Minister said that our security and future prosperity is linked to that of Afghanistan, in multiple ways. The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan attaches importance to a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan.

Prime Minister re-affirmed Pakistan’s strong and sincere support for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif further said that the region has witnessed conflict and instability for decades and it’s high time now to realize our common positive agenda of peace and development.

Later the Prime Minister hosted lunch in honour of the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, wherein the Afghan delegation was also present

Earlier the two leaders also held one-to-one meeting at Islamabad and discussed bilateral issues.
