Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired the 3rd Meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy in PM House Islamabad today.
Prime Minister was briefed about the progress on energy policy that aims to achieve “more availability and better affordability” of electricity in Pakistan. PM was told in the meeting that about 1500 Mega Watts of electricity will be added to National Grid by June, 2015. PM directed the committee to increase the quantum of coal and gas as part of the fuel mix policy of energy production, in order to make the prices of electricity more affordable. PM also directed the committee to devise and present comprehensive load management strategy for coming summers.
