Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has congratulated the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) for the efforts made to secure Pakistan a seat in the elections of Administrative Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in South Korea today.
Pakistan got 101 votes out of a total of 168 in the plenipotentiary conference held in the city of Busan. The election victory has secured Pakistan position in the administrative, management and policy making body of the telecommunication agency. The Council is the premier board of the global Telecom’s policy making body of the UN with the mandate of considering broad global policy issues in the field of ICTs and telecommunications. Due to her leading role in the campaign for this election, Minister of State for IT, Ms. Anusha Rahman has also become the finalist of Jamtech Award for the year 2014.
