Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting which finalized preparations of the upcoming 3rd meeting of the Joint China Commission (JCC) at the PM’s House here today.
Meeting reviewed the agenda of the 3rd JCC meeting scheduled to take place in Beijing this week, in which the Pakistani delegation would comprise Federal Minister for Planning and Chief Ministers of Punjab and Balochistan among senior government officials.
The Prime Minister was informed that the meeting would focus on infrastructure development and energy related projects.
The Prime Minister appreciated his energy and economic teams on obtaining approval of the Chinese government for putting power projects having generation capacity of 10,400 MW on first priority list in the Joint Working Group meeting held earlier this month and emphasized that steps should be taken to ensure their timely completion.
Appreciating Chinese support for Pakistan, he said, that that China is our time-tested friend who understands our needs and has always been there to assist us in meeting them.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the decisions taken in the previous preparatory meeting that took place last week.
Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif; Federal Ministers for Finance, Mr. Ishaq Dar; Planning, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal; Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique; Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif; Special Assistant to PM, Mr. Tariq Fatemi; Secretary Water and Power; Secretary Planning and Chairman NHA attended the meeting in addition to other senior officers.
