Chairperson, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz Sharif distributed cheques worth Rs. 85 million among more than 3,300 post-graduate students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday under the Prime Minister’s 100 percent Fee Reimbursement Scheme (PMFRS), at Muzaffarabad.
Addressing the 100% Fee Reimbursement ceremony, the Chairperson said that the Prime Minister Mr. Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has allocated equal share for the students of AJK in all the youth schemes. “I am delighted to say that the youths of less-privileged areas are equally talented to those who are living in other parts of the country which means there is no dearth of talent in any of the less-privileged areas,” she maintained.
The Chairperson remarked that the prime minister desires that the youth of the country should only focus on education adding, “It is now, the responsibility of the government to look after youth and the government will bear all the expenses of their education.” She said that the scheme would sponsor 100 per cent educational expenses of the post-graduate students of less-developed areas of Southern Punjab, interior Sindh, entire Balochistan, KPK including FATA, AJK and GB before the end of fiscal year 2013-14.
The Chairperson maintained that under the scheme, 100 percent reimbursement of the educational expenses upto Rs. 100,000 for the financially underprivileged students of the less developed areas of the country was a big leap forward towards attainment of higher education.
The Chairperson voiced for the youth while saying that she felt happiness while helping youth who were real assets of the country. She maintained that the government believes in self-sufficient youth and for the purpose it started Youth Business Loan Schemes during which a large number of youth from AJK were also granted loans to run their own businesses.
Highlighting the Youth Skill Development Programme, initiated by the present government, Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz Sharif informed that PMYP received 75,000 applications for the programme and with the grace of Allah Almighty the first batch of 25,000 skilled youth will pass out in August this year.
She concluded her speech while shedding light on the PM’s laptop scheme saying that the scheme had formally been launched by the Prime Minister on June 20 and the students of the recognized universities are getting laptops.
AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad were also present on this occasion.
