May 31, 2014

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the first unit of 425 Mega Watt Nandipur Power Project today. “The Nandipur Power Project is commissioned before the expected time. The first phase of 95MW electricity would start from today and the rest of the projected electricity will be added in next few months.” Prime Minister said during his speech at Nandipur.

“The equipment for the project lied in dilapidated condition at Port Qasim, Karachi. Most of the stuff was pilfered and due to the criminal negligence, Pakistan had to bear the loss of hard earned billions of Rupees from the national exchequer. ” PM said.

“The Government is striving to eradicate the darkness from the length and breadth of the country irrespective of political affiliation of people. I could not make out why some people are making hue and cry when the Government is delivering. They must ponder on the reality that the Government is investing in the projects all over the country irrespective of the fact whether they bagged votes from those constituencies or not. This speaks volume for the sincerity of the Government. We will build schools, colleges and Hospitals in all provinces and ensure equal development in all the provinces, ”PM said.

Prime Minister vowed to undertake development projects which no political party did while they were in power. “We are not only focusing on installing Power projects in Pakistan but infrastructural development is also our top priority. We will lay foundation of the Karachi Lahore Motorway very soon and hopefully will be able to complete this project during our tenure. Government has released Rs 55 billion for land acquisition of the project as a first step”.

Prime Minister also threw light on the security situation Karachi. “We initiated operation in Karachi to bring back the lights of the city. Now the crime rate in Karachiis decreased substantially. When we took over the Government, the incidence of target killing and extortion were the norms in the city. By the grace of Allah the law and order situation is evident is quite better now.”

“We have taken steps to ameliorate the grievances of agriculturists and business community in the coming budget.” PM further said.

Prime Minister also questioned the rationale behind the current wave of processions against Government. “Such agitators have been doing the same for the last 65 years. They are perpetuating the processions against the government while sitting in Canada and London .Nevertheless; we are working day in and day out for the progress of this country. These perpetrators should not create the stumbling blocks in the progress of Pakistan and join hands with us for development and prosperity of Pakistan”. Are they agitating against the development projects, which we have undertaken, PM asked.

“The projects are completing at a stupendous pace. Yesterday, I performed ground breaking of the 1320 MW power project in Sahiwal and today, I am inaugurating the Nandi Pur Project. Very soon, Neelum-Jehlum project will be inaugurated. The projects are come to fruition at an unprecedented speed. The cost of Neelum Jhelum Project was Rs84 billion which due to the negligence, has risen to Rs 275 billion. The irregularities and negligence in the Nandi Pur Power Project and Neelum Jhelum Project should be investigated.”PM told.

“We are producing only 13000 MW of electricity at this time. I assure you that, with the pace of work we are moving ahead, we will be able to add 21000 MW electricity to the national grid during the next 8 to 10 years.” PM said.

“We are also starting work on 4500 MW Diamir-Bhasha Dam which will not only cater the energy needs of the country but also irrigate the large swathes of fertile land. We plan to construct Diamer-Bhasha and Dasu dams simultaneously from our own resources”. I have released Rs 40 billion for the land acquisition of land for Diamer-Bhasha dam, PM told.
