Prime Minister of Pakistan arrives in Sri Lanka

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived in Colombo today to represent Pakistan at the 53-member Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The Prime Minister was received by Mr. Nimal Siripala D Silva, Leader of the House in Sri Lankan Parliament, Mr. A.H.M. Fawzi, Senior Minister for Municipal Affairs, Mrs. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Power and Energy and several members of the Parliament.

Ms. Anusha Rahman, Minister of State for Information and Technology, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani, High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Maj. Gen. ® Qasim Qureshi and officials of the Pakistan High Commission and Sri Lankan Government were also present to receive the Prime Minister. Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Fatemi are also accompanying the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister will be meeting the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa this evening.
