PM for Chinese Investment in Pakistan

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that foreign investment in Pakistan would provide much needed boost to economy and generate employment opportunities. He said this while meeting Mr. Xu Ziqiu, President of China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC), who called on the Prime Minister here in Islamabad today. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Sun Weidong and Special Assistant to PM Mr. Tariq Fatemi were also present in the meeting.


Prime Minister said that Pakistan has a growing strategic relationship with China and Pakistan welcomes new and innovative ideas in all fields. He further said that investment in construction / manufacturing sectors not only provide impetus to the economy but at the same time generates employment opportunities. Prime Minister said that Pakistan has always welcomed Chinese investment which has been a source of further strengthening of ties between the two countries.

 

Mr. Xu Ziqiu apprised the Prime Minister that CSOC is involved in design, manufacture, repair, lease, sales of ships, marine equipment, electrical and electronics, turnkey contracts in metallurgy, petrochemicals, civil construction, power stations, hydropower and bridge projects. He further informed that his company is looking into investment in the various construction sector projects in Pakistan.
